Advent Calendar

An Advent calendar is a symbol of the holy season of Advent.

Traditional advent calendars have twenty-four small doors, with the idea being to open one each day between December 1st and December 24th (Christmas Eve). Behind each door is a picture of some part of the Nativity Story of Jesus, or something else associated with Christmas.

Some modern Advent calendars include a chocolate or candy behind each door. Some Advent calendars are extended with additional days to cover Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Hanukkah, New Year's Eve or New Year's Day.
